Goodbye Blogger

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

It’s been good, but I’m going to be moving on to a wordpress on a fancy sub-domain. My hosting company, Dreamhost, is awesome by the way. I had trouble setting things up, and they helped me in practically no time flat. I highly recommend their services.

“Why the sub-domain,” you ask? I won’t lie, I love the format of the xkcd website with blog on the subdomain and comics on the main page. That’s right. I’m going to have comics on the main page. In a perfect world, there will be comics regularly posted on the front page. In a great world, it will be regular updates of comics or my latest art projects.

In reality, it will be comics or art on a semi-new basis, catalogued by number, rather than date. I’ll likely reference the frontpage from the blog, but not the other way around. To make it easy on me, I already have a ton of stuff stashed around here (here being my two hard drives at home and the space this site is hosted on).

Lieutenant Purple

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Ame likes to exercise to belly-dancing videos, and, like most girls (or so I’m led to believe), she likes to feel pretty. My parents had gotten her a gift certificate to Amazon.com for Christmas, so she was browsing for what I think are called waist-scarves - basically pretty little pseudo-skirts with fringes - that can wave and move around as she exercises. I looked over her shoulder and saw the product she had up was listed as “Lt Purple.”

I told her that the one in lieutenant purple looked good and she should get it. I completely missed the possibility of ‘light purple.’ My logic was along the lines of, if there’s a ‘Navy Blue,’ why not a ‘Lieutenant Purple?’ She looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears, and then I realized my mistake! I tried to backpedal into mentioning ‘Sergeant Orange,’ but that didn’t work so well.

What’s worse is that the day before, she mentioned she was looking at a Light Purple waist-scarf that she liked. I cracked a joke then too, but this time it was on purpose: “You know what rhymes with ‘light purple?’ ‘light urple.’” A stupid joke, and Lieutenant Purple wins every time.

I know I’m gonna hear about this one forever. Oh well, I guess this is how family jokes start.
