All dressed up and nowhere to go

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

I Attempted to go to a job fair today. After washing my filthy Steve self, I went online to confirm some details, and it turned out the event was postponed until next Tuesday. So I’m here in some clothes that are a bit nicer than my usual fare (which is usually a black nerd T-shirt and jeans), and no place to be.

To pad my small post a bit, I’ve been trying to beat my high-score in Pac-Man C.E. ever since my last post about it, but to no avail. My average score is getting steadily higher though, and I can only hope to beat the record very soon. I was having the best round yet yesterday, but the pizza guy came and it was time for us to eat. Oh how I wanted to finish that round! C’est la vie…

Pac-man Fever

I’ve been playing Pac-Man Championship Edition a lot lately. It’s a great game because the matches are no more than 5 minutes long (or 10 minutes for different modes) – So if you’ve got a few minutes to kill, you can just load up Pac-Man, but that’s not why I play. I am a high-score junkie, and Pac-Man being Pac-Man, that’s really the only goal of the game. The fact that there is a global high-score list makes me drool. My high-score currently stands at 316,250, which puts me at 720th place worldwide, and, because there is also a weekly ranking, 84th for the week.

I just watched a couple videos on youtube, and realized something about the mechanics of the game I hadn’t noticed before. I’m going to have to try it out; this technique will surely put me much higher in the rankings.
